Gujarat Lions (GL) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are not in a happy place. The place is at the bottom of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 table. GL have just one win and three losses, while RCB are scratching at the bottom of the barrel with four miserable losses from five matches. RCB, on the other hand, are extremely upset, with Kohli mincing no words when he reminded his team of their responsibility towards the fans and franchise owners. RCB have by far the most formidable batting in the tournament, with Kohli, Chris Gayle being among the best batsmen in the business. However, AB de Villiers recurring injury may force him out again from the crucial tie. GL too have the likes of Raina, Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith and Aaron Finch in their batting armoury. It is the bowling that will be sorely tested when the two sides meet and it is a simple matter of who bowls better that may decide the clash between these two bottom-placed sides.
This particular match should be a rather exciting one. Not because of the usual hype that most matches have around them, but because the two teams in question are desperate for a win. And, it is only when you really want something that one sees the best come out of you. Match 20 of this year's Indian T20 League will see the bottom two teams face off against each other. Looking at Gujarat first, putting up good totals on the board has not been a problem for them. It's their bowling that has been letting them down. The introduction of Andrew Tye has somewhat helped but it's still proving to be insufficient. That's the one area the home side really needs to focus on, especially against a loaded batting line-up like Bangalore's. Although, the visitors are blowing quite hot and cold with the bat. They undoubtedly have the quality, but are misfiring for some reason, at home too which would be a real cause for concern. With no AB de Villiers, it should be interesting to see if Bangalore opt for Chris Gayle or give a chance to Travis Head. The poor bowling only adds further pressure on them. The situation for both teams is quite similar, only the degree of it might differ. It will all boil down to who can tighten the screws better and be efficient.
